Tick Tock Cottage

Tick Tock Cottage is in Baslow, which is just inside the Peak District boundary. It's a detached stone cottage with its own parking right outside. The house is set back a bit from the main road through the village, so it's quieter than some.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Both rooms have super king-size beds, but they can be split into twins if you ask beforehand. There's one bathroom with a bath and a separate shower cubicle.

Downstairs is all open plan. There's a kitchen with a breakfast bar and a proper dining table. You've got a dishwasher and a washing machine in the utility room. The TV has Sky and Netflix on it. Outside is a private courtyard with a barbecue, and beyond that is a garden area we share sometimes.

The village has what you need. There's a decent shop for basics and a couple of pubs that do food. For a bigger shop, Bakewell is about five minutes away by car.

You're right on the edge of the Chatsworth estate here. You can walk up through the village and into the parkland in under ten minutes. The house itself is about a 15-minute drive. It's the main local attraction. For walkers, you've got access to the River Derwent paths and the moors from the doorstep.

Other places within half an hour include Bakewell, obviously, and Haddon Hall. Castleton and the caverns are about 25 minutes north. The traffic on the A roads can slow things down on a sunny day, so factor that in.

It's a 4 Star place. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's not a period museum, it's a solid, practical cottage. The Wi-Fi is fine for normal use.
