Melville is a terraced house on a quiet street right in Bakewell. You can walk to the town centre in five minutes. It's your house for the week.
It sleeps five. Two rooms upstairs and one small one on the ground floor. That's good for someone who doesn't want the stairs. There's one bathroom downstairs, next to the ground floor bedroom.
It's a 3 Star place. That means it's clean, warm, and everything works, but it's not posh. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow. It's a Victorian house, so that's just how they are.
You get a small walled garden out the back. It's enclosed. There's parking for one car on the street outside.
The facilities are all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.
Being in Bakewell means you step out the door and you're there. The market is Mondays. The river is a two minute walk. The famous pudding shops are on your doorstep. There's a good butcher and a greengrocer.
For walks, you can start from the house and be on a footpath in no time. The Monsal Trail is close by for a flat, easy walk or bike ride. For the bigger hills, you drive five minutes and you're in the Peak District proper.
Chatsworth House is about a 15 minute drive. Haddon Hall is even closer. Both are worth a visit. For a longer trip, you can be in Buxton or Matlock Bath in under half an hour.
