Damsels Bower is a converted barn in Over Haddon. It’s a small village, not much to it, but there’s a pub over the road. You look out the back straight onto a field. The front faces onto a shared courtyard.
It sleeps five across three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, which is handy. It’s got a 4 Star rating so the basics are covered.
The main space is interesting. It’s all high and open with a gallery above where one of the bedrooms is. That bedroom overlooks the living space, so bear that in mind if you’re travelling as a group. If everyone’s happy with that, it’s a really nice feature.
You can walk straight out into Lathkill Dale from the back gate. Proper walking, you don’t need to get in the car. If you want to cycle, the Monsal Trail is about four miles away.
The Peak District National Park site is useful for planning routes. Bakewell is a couple of miles away for supermarkets and the shops there. Everything else is a short drive. Haddon Hall and Chatsworth are about fifteen minutes. Eyam, Castleton, Matlock are all within a half hour. It’s a good central spot.
The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. There's a patio with a table outside.
