Thistledown Cottage is in Great Longstone, a village in the Peak District. It's a limestone terrace house, in the middle of a row. It gets the morning sun.
It sleeps four in two double bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after. The stairs are fairly typical for a cottage, so they're a bit steep and turn at the top.
Downstairs is all open plan. The kitchen is in the middle, which is good if you're cooking and chatting. There's a wood burner in the stone fireplace for cooler nights. The conservatory out the back is a nice spot to sit. It looks over the fields.
There's a small enclosed garden at the front. It's south-facing. You can bring one dog.
In the village there's a shop, a dairy, and two pubs that do food and allow dogs. Another pub is in Little Longstone, which is just down the road. Bakewell is about ten minutes away by car. They've got all the usual shops and a market.
For walks, you can pick up the Monsal Trail easily. It's a traffic-free path, about eight and a half miles long on an old railway line. Chatsworth House is a ten-minute drive. Eyam, the plague village, is about the same. Buxton is twenty minutes away, and Castleton with its caverns is about twenty-five minutes.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is on site.
