Station House

This is Station House. It's my cottage in Millers Dale, in the Peak District. It used to be the station master's house when the railway was running, which is quite a while ago now, the 1880s. It sits right on the Monsal Trail now, which is a traffic-free path for walking and cycling.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place so it's got decent mod cons and is comfortable. You can bring one dog. The garden is yours, and there's parking.

Because it's an old station house, it's got its quirks. The windows are big and you get a good view down the valley from most of them. There are a few old railway photos about, and some of the signs are railway themed. It's just part of the place.

You're on the Monsal Trail the second you step out the door. It's flat and good for bikes. You can walk up to the viaducts, they're impressive. For a coffee or a bite, there's a cafe about fifty metres away. The local pub is half a mile up the road in the village.

You're well placed for getting out. Buxton and Bakewell are both about a fifteen minute drive. Castleton and Chatsworth are within half an hour. For walks, you've got everything from the high moors to riverside paths right from the doorstep.

In the house, there's a wood burner for cooler evenings, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and wifi. All the bedding and towels are included.

If you're planning things to do, the Peak District National Park site is useful, and so is the National Trust for the Peak District.
