Spinney Cottage is in Sheldon, a small village about three miles from Bakewell. It's a detached stone cottage. The oldest part is from around 1800. The views from the garden are good, over fields and hills.
It sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The main house has three doubles upstairs and a family bathroom. One of the doubles has a zip-and-link bed that can be two singles if you need it. Downstairs there's a living room with beams, a stone wall, and a multi-fuel stove. There's a separate dining area, a kitchen, and a south-facing conservatory. Also a toilet and utility room.
Just a few steps from the main house is a separate building. Downstairs is a heated games room with a pool table and table tennis. There's also a drying room for boots and coats. Upstairs is a studio apartment with a double bedroom and an en-suite bathroom. The sitting area there has a sofa bed.
The garden is enclosed. There's a patio with a built-in barbecue and a table, and two lawns. The bigger one is good for a kickabout. Parking is on the driveway for up to four cars.
The village pub is about a hundred yards away. It's friendly and does food. The nearest shop is a mile away in Ashford-on-the-Water. Bakewell is three miles for bigger shops, cafes, and the Monday market.
For things to do, you're right in the Peak District. Chatsworth House is about ten minutes by car. Haddon Hall is maybe fifteen. Castleton and its caves are roughly twenty minutes away. For walking, you can start right from the door. The Peak District National Park site has maps and routes. The National Trust has several properties and areas nearby too.
