Thorncliffe Cottage is in Tideswell. It's mid-terraced, stone built, on a quiet lane. You get two bedrooms and one bathroom, and it sleeps four. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well equipped and comfortable.
The cottage is over four floors because of the slope. The stairs are the original, so they're narrow and a bit steep in places. It means the views out the back are good, though. There's a split-level patio with a table and chairs. It's enclosed, so it's safe for one dog.
Tideswell is a busy village. There's a good co-op shop about five minutes walk away, and a couple of pubs closer than that. The local butchers is very good. The church is known as the Cathedral of the Peak. You can pick up a few walking trails right from the village.
For a proper walk, you can get onto the Monsal Trail easily from Tideswell Dale. It's traffic-free and good for cycling too. The Limestone Way goes through here as well. Buxton and Bakewell are about a fifteen minute drive in either direction. Bakewell has the market and the pudding shop. Buxton has the opera house and the pavilion gardens.
Chatsworth House is about twenty-five minutes away. Castleton for the caverns and Mam Tor is roughly the same. Alton Towers is about forty-five minutes if that's your thing.
Inside, there's a wood burning stove in the living room. We leave some wood for you to start with. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. The WiFi works fine.
