Oxlow End Cottage
Oxlow End Cottage is an old stone farmhouse next to where we live, up near Peak Forest. It's in the White Peak area, so there's a lot of limestone around. The views from the front are good, just fields and wooded hills.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and everything works. We've restored it but kept the old beams and stonework. It's got a woodburning stove for colder nights. The garden is enclosed, so it's fine for dogs.
You can just walk straight out from the door onto the paths. Good for walking or mountain biking. There's a pub about three quarters of a mile away that does food and allows dogs. The nearest shop for basics is in the next village, about four miles.
You're right in the middle of the Peak District. Buxton is about ten minutes by car. Castleton and the Hope Valley are maybe twenty minutes. For a longer day out, Chatsworth House is within half an hour.
What's there: WiFi, TV, washing machine, towels and bedding are included. There's parking right by the cottage. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There's a stairgate fitted.
