Highstool View

Highstool View is a one-bedroom cottage on our working farm, Rockhouse. It's in Chelmorton village. Good for a couple. The place is all on the ground floor, which is handy.

You come in through the main room. There's a kitchen at one end, then a table for two and a sofa with a TV. It's got what you need: dishwasher, washing machine. The washing machine is actually in a shared utility room next door, but you've got your own key for it.

The bedroom is through an archway. It's a double bed with an en-suite shower room. The shower is a walk-in one. Everything's on the same level from the car park to the bedroom.

Outside, there's a private courtyard with a bistro table and chairs. It gets the sun in the afternoon. You can see the fields from there.

The village has a pub, the Church Inn. It's a few minutes' walk. They do food. You can start walks right from the door, straight up into the fields and onto the Peak District paths.

We're between Buxton and Bakewell. Buxton has the shops, the Opera House, and the Pavilion Gardens. Bakewell is the other way, for the puddings and the market. Chatsworth House is about a 20 minute drive. The caves at Castleton are roughly the same.

You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's bike storage if you need it. Bedding and towels are included. The WiFi usually works fine.

It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped, but it's a farm cottage, not a hotel. You'll hear farm noises sometimes, and the lane outside gets the odd tractor.
