The Old Candle House is on the edge of Longnor, just off the main square. It's a converted stone building, so the walls are thick. That's good in the winter. You get a small garden at the back with a bench.
It sleeps four, maybe five if one's a kid. There are three bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It's rated 4 Star. It has been done up inside but it's still an old place so mind your head on the beams. The stairs are open and quite steep. I'd keep an eye on little ones or anyone unsteady.
Longnor has a shop, a post office, a couple of cafes, and a chippy. The pub is about a two minute walk. It's a proper village pub.
For walking, you can start right from the door. The Roaches and Ramshaw Rocks are about ten minutes by car if you like climbing. Buxton is fifteen minutes away, has the Opera House and Pavilion Gardens. Bakewell is about twenty. Dovedale and its stepping stones, Ashbourne, and Chatsworth House are all within half an hour. Alton Towers is also about thirty minutes if that's your thing.
It has a wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
