The Old Candle House is in Longnor. It used to be a candle workshop, hence the name. It's a terraced stone cottage, right on a quiet lane.
It's a four-star place, so it's comfortable and well-kept, but not a show home. It sleeps four. There are three bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It takes one well-behaved dog.
Downstairs is one open room, with a kitchen at one end, a table in the middle, and a living area with a wood burner at the other. The beams are low in the doorway between the kitchen and living room. Watch your head.
There's a small, walled patio garden out the back with a table and chairs.
The village has a pub, a shop with a post office, and a fish and chip shop. All are a two-minute walk away. The pub does food, and the shop has the essentials.
You can walk straight from the door into the fields and along the river. The Roaches and Ramshaw Rocks are about ten minutes' drive if you're a climber.
Buxton is fifteen minutes away. They've got the opera house and the pavilion gardens there. Bakewell is about twenty minutes. Dovedale, Ashbourne, and Chatsworth House are all within half an hour. Alton Towers is too.
In terms of things here, it's got a wood burner, wifi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included.
