The Old Mill Annexe is next to our house on the river in The Raikes. We're about half a mile from Hartington village. It's a stone-built place, detached from the main house. You get the garden area to yourselves.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's an annexe, so it's compact. The kitchen area is in the main living space.
The garden looks out over the river. We've still got the old mill wheel there. You can fish from the bank if you have a permit. The river can be noisy after rain, but it's nice to listen to.
Hartington is a ten minute walk. There's a good village shop, a couple of pubs that do food, cafes, and the cheese shop. You don't really need to drive for basics.
For walking, you're right in it. The Peak District National Park website has routes. The Tissington Trail and Manifold Track for cycling are close by. For climbers, the Roaches is about a twenty minute drive.
Chatsworth House is about half an hour. So is Bakewell for the market and puddings. Haddon Hall is lovely. Alton Towers is also within that half hour, if that's your sort of thing.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, TV, a washing machine, bedding and towels are included. There's a patio with a barbecue. No pets, sorry.
