Wolfscote Cottage
Wolfscote Cottage is in Biggin, right on the edge of the Peak District. It's part of a farmhouse, Wolfscote Grange, so you're in the middle of the fields. The views down the valley towards Hartington are really good.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms downstairs, both doubles. One bathroom with a shower. The living area is upstairs, open plan with wooden floors and beams. It gets the sun.
You get a patio and a bit of garden that leads into a meadow. There's a wildlife pond on the farm. The owners are about, and you can feed the chickens. Kids like that. There are lambs in spring.
The farm has its own nature trail. You might see hares or buzzards. It's very quiet.
You're about a fifteen minute walk from the River Dove. Hartington village is a mile and a half away. It's got a couple of decent pubs and a shop that does cream teas. The Tissington Trail for cycling is four miles. Carsington Water is about twenty minutes by car if you want to sail or windsurf.
For a day out, Chatsworth House is roughly half an hour's drive. So is Haddon Hall. Buxton is about twenty minutes away, with the Opera House and Pavilion Gardens. Alton Towers is also within half an hour.
Facilities are all there: parking, wi-fi, a TV, bedding. You can bring one dog. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
