Gem Cottage
Gem Cottage is a one bedroom place in Longnor for two people, plus one dog if you've got one. It's got a 4 Star rating. Think comfy and clean, not huge or luxurious.
It's small but it works. You come in through the front door straight into the sitting room. There's a log burner, a two-seater sofa, a table with two chairs, and a Smart TV on the wall. The kitchen is off there. It has a dishwasher and some cupboard space. There's no microwave, but there is a combi oven that works for that.
Upstairs is the bedroom with a king-size bed and views over the village, and the bathroom. The bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower.
Outside, there's a parking space for one car round the back. The front has a small, private garden with a bistro table and two chairs.
Longnor is quiet. There's a village shop and a pub, The Crewe and Harpur Arms, which is a couple of minutes' walk away. It does food. For a bigger shop or more places to eat, Buxton is about 15 minutes drive one way and Leek is about 20 minutes the other.
You can walk straight from the door. The Peak District footpaths are right there. For more organised days out, the Peak District National Park site has good information. National Trust Peak District properties like Ilam Park or Lyme Park are within half an hour.
The facilities are all listed. Bedding and towels are included. The WiFi is okay for browsing and emails.
