Swallows Return
This is Swallows Return. It's one of four cottages at Wolfscote Grange, which is a farm between the villages of Biggin and Hartington.
The cottage sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, one is an en-suite. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, with decent space.
The living area is all open-plan and on the first floor. The idea is you get the views from there. You look out over the valley towards Hartington.
Outside, there's a patio courtyard and then a bit of grass that leads into the farm meadows. The whole place is part of a farmland nature reserve. There's a farm trail you can walk. Kids usually like seeing the chickens. In spring there are lambs.
You're right on the edge of the Peak District. For a walk, you can be down by the River Dove in a few minutes. Hartington village is about a mile away. It's got a couple of good pubs and a shop. The Tissington Trail for cycling is about four miles. Carsington Water is close if you want to do any sailing.
In terms of big days out, Chatsworth House is about a 25 minute drive. So is Alton Towers if that's your thing. Haddon Hall is medieval and also nearby. Buxton is about 20 minutes up the road, they've got the Opera House and the Pavilion Gardens.
Facilities: it's got WiFi, a dishwasher, parking, a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding is included. One well-behaved dog is allowed. There's bicycle storage.
