Throwley Moor Farmhouse

Throwley Moor Farmhouse is near Ilam in Staffordshire. It's a big, detached farmhouse from the 1700s that sleeps thirteen. It's on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and cows in the fields around you. You'll hear them too, and the tractors. If you want absolute quiet, it's not the right place.

It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and has what you need. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. The bedrooms are set up oddly because it's an old house. One has four singles, one has a double and a single, another is a double with an ensuite toilet, and the last is a double with two singles. It works for big groups or families who don't mind sharing.

Downstairs, there are two living rooms, both with open fires. The bigger one has a table tennis table. The kitchen is large with a proper farmhouse table, and there's a pantry with an extra fridge and a chest freezer, which is useful. There's a utility room with a washing machine and a tumble drier, and a downstairs loo.

Outside at the front is your private garden. It's a big lawn with a patio, picnic benches, and a barbecue. You can park right next to the house.

The location is good for getting out. You're right on the edge of the Peak District. Dovedale and its stepping stones are a few minutes away by car. The Peak District National Park site has walking routes. The Manifold Valley and Tissington Trail are close by for cycling or walks. Ashbourne is the nearest proper town for shops. The nearest pub is about four miles away in Ilam.

Alton Towers is about fifteen minutes drive if you've got kids who want that. For a different day out, the National Trust at Ilam Park is just down the road.

Facilities: it's all included. Bedding, towels, WiFi, TV. There's a cot and highchair. You can bring up to three dogs. The fires are open, so you need to be careful with them. You get a basket of logs to start you off.

There's another cottage on the farm that can be booked with this one if you need space for twenty.
