Gable Cottage

Gable Cottage is in Onecote, which is a hamlet in the Staffordshire part of the Peak District. It's attached to our house, which is a 17th century farmhouse. The cottage is stone and has beams. It gets a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean, not luxurious.

It sleeps four. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. You're welcome to bring up to two dogs. The garden is yours to use.

Inside, there's a wood burning stove. It works well. We provide logs. The stairs are steep and winding, like a lot of old cottages. We've put a stairgate at the top for safety.

You have your own parking. There's WiFi, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them.

You're right in the countryside here. There are footpaths straight from the door. Leek is about seven miles away for shops. Alton Towers is ten miles, if that's your sort of thing. The Manifold Trail for cycling is five miles away, where you can hire bikes.

Within about half an hour you can get to Buxton, Ashbourne, or parts of the Peak District like Dovedale. Chatsworth House is also within range. If you want to plan trips, the Peak District National Park site is useful, as is the National Trust for the area.

The nearest shop is about four miles away in Longnor, so it's best to come with supplies.
