Gable Cottage
Gable Cottage is in Onecote, which is a small hamlet in the Staffordshire part of the Peak District. It's attached to our house, which is 17th century, but the cottage itself is a separate building. You get your own front door and the bit of garden out the front.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but it's not a show home. It has beamed ceilings, so mind your head in the doorways. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they are a bit steep.
There's a family pub about a hundred yards away. They do food. The nearest proper shop is in Leek, which is about four miles away. Leek has supermarkets and some interesting smaller shops.
You're right in the south of the Peak District National Park here. There are footpaths straight from the door. The Manifold Trail for cycling is about five miles away, you can hire bikes there. Alton Towers is about ten miles if you've got kids who are into that.
For other days out, Chatsworth House is within about 45 minutes' drive. So is Trentham Gardens. Buxton is about twelve miles and has a summer festival.
What's here: the cottage has a wood burning stove, a dishwasher, and wifi. There's a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking on the drive.
