Dawn Cottage is our place up in Alstonefield, in the Peak District. It's a converted barn attached to our farmhouse. We've got a working livestock farm here, so there's cows, sheep, and a few chickens and geese around. You'll see the sheepdogs working.
The cottage sleeps six. Three bedrooms upstairs, one family bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The stairs are normal, but the ceilings upstairs are lower in places because of the beams. Mind your head.
Downstairs is all open plan. Kitchen, living area, dining table. There's a woodburning stove. The main thing is the view from the windows. You look out across our fields down to the River Dove and the valley. It's very quiet.
You're right on the edge of the village. The local pub, The George, is about a ten minute walk. It's good. From the door, you can walk straight down to the River Dove or join the Tissington Trail. It's all walking and cycling country.
Ashbourne is about seven miles one way, Buxton is twelve miles the other. For a bigger day out, Chatsworth House is roughly a 30 minute drive. The whole Peak District National Park is on your doorstep.
In terms of what's here: there's parking right outside. The garden and patio area is yours to use. We've included all bedding and towels. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
