Whitehouse Farm is in Heathcote, near Hartington. It's a converted barn next to our house. We don't farm anymore. The views are good, straight out over the dales.
It sleeps fourteen. Six bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's big and solid, good for a family get-together or a group of friends.
The stairs inside are a proper farmhouse staircase. They're fine, but they are a bit steep and turn a corner. Something to be aware of.
You can walk to Hartington village in about twenty minutes. There are pubs, a shop, and the famous cheese shop there. Our local pub in Biggin is a twenty-minute walk across the fields.
You can walk straight out from the door into the dales. Wolfscote Dale and Beresford Dale are right there. For an easier stroll with kids, you can go down to Hartington Meadows or the pond.
Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne, and Matlock are all about twenty minutes away by car for shops. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are about the same drive. The Peak District National Park site has walking routes.
There's a bus stop down the lane. The bus goes from Buxton to Ashbourne through the villages if you don't want to drive.
For facilities: there's parking, an enclosed garden with a BBQ, WiFi, TVs, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and highchair. There's an electric vehicle charger. No pets, sorry.
