Dove Cottage is in Rowsley. It's a terraced cottage that was built for the railway workers, probably in the 1850s. It's stone-built, like most around here.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms, with one bathroom. We've got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. The stairs are steep, because it's an old cottage.
You've got your own enclosed garden at the back. It's got a patio area and a bit of lawn. There's parking for one car on the drive at the front.
Inside, there's a woodburning stove in the living room. We supply the first basket of logs. There's a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and a shower over the bath. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
Rowsley is quiet. There's a village shop and post office, and a couple of pubs within walking distance. The Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep.
You're really well placed here. Chatsworth House is about two miles away. So is Haddon Hall. Bakewell is three miles, Matlock is five. You can walk to both Chatsworth and Haddon from the cottage along the footpaths. The Derwent Valley Heritage Way goes through the village.
For days out, you've got the Peak Village outlet shops, and Caudwell's Mill with its cafe. In summer, the steam trains run from here to Matlock. Further afield, within about half an hour, you can get to Buxton, Castleton, or Dovedale. The National Trust has several properties and walks in the area.
