Church Cottage

Church Cottage is in Darley Bridge near Matlock. It’s a small stone cottage that was done up last year. It’s tucked in behind St Mary’s church, so it feels quite private.

It's for two people. One bedroom with an en-suite shower room. It’s got a 4 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and well-finished.

You walk into one open room with the kitchenette and bed. The main living room is separate, with big bifold doors that open right onto your own patio. There’s a hot tub and a barbecue out there. The garden isn’t fenced off because the woodland next to it is part of the property. You might see deer on the lawn. There’s a locked shed for bikes.

Darley Bridge itself is quiet. There are two pubs within walking distance, both do food. The bridge over the River Derwent is an ancient monument and you can pick up the Derwent Valley Heritage Way from there.

You’re well placed for getting out. The bus to Matlock or Bakewell stops at the end of the drive. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are about a fifteen minute drive away. Carsington Water is nearby for sailing or walking. You can get a canoe from Darley Bridge down to Matlock Bath.

For walkers, you can step straight out onto local paths. The Limestone Way passes close by. The Monsal Trail starts at Bakewell, and you can walk to the Monsal Head viaduct. There’s also a heritage railway at Darley Dale station a mile away.

Included: bedding, towels, WiFi, TV, washing machine, parking, and an electric vehicle charger. No pets.
