Calf Close Barn is in Slack, which is near Ashover in Derbyshire. It's a converted barn, detached, set in twenty-five acres of fields. It has its own patio and garden area. The barn sits next to Goss Hall, which is the main house here.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's a 4 Star property. It's been converted well, it's comfortable and clean.
You're up on the side of the valley so the views from the windows are good, out over the village. It's a proper working smallholding. You'll see our flock of Gotland sheep, chickens, geese, and goats in the fields around you. The cockerel does crow in the morning.
You can walk straight from the door. There are plenty of paths. One takes you down into Ashover village, about a mile away. The river runs through it. There's a pub there that serves food, about a twenty minute walk. The local shop is two miles.
Ogston Reservoir is ten minutes by car. You can sail, fish, or watch birds there. Matlock is about the same distance. It has antique shops and cafes. Matlock Bath has the cable car up to the Heights of Abraham.
Bakewell is half an hour's drive. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both around there too. Chesterfield, with the crooked spire church, is about twenty minutes away. For a big day out, Alton Towers is roughly an hour's drive.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a cot and highchair if needed. Bedding and towels are included. We have bicycle storage. Sorry, no pets.
