The Stables

The Stables is near the village of Ashover in Derbyshire. It's detached, so it's just you. The building used to be stables, hence the name.

It sleeps two people in one bedroom. The layout is a bit unusual. You come in on the ground floor. That's where the kitchen, a small bathroom with a shower, and the living area are. The living area is a sort of mezzanine level above the kitchen. Then you go downstairs to the bedroom. It's a decent size and has patio doors that open out. There's a separate toilet down there too.

It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped. The facilities list is accurate. There's a wood burner, wifi, a dishwasher, and parking. It's also wheelchair accessible at the entrance.

The setting is quiet, on a country lane. You'll see fields and farm animals. The local pub is about two miles away in Ashover. It's a good one, very old. The village has a shop and a couple of other places. Matlock is about five miles for bigger shops and more places to eat.

You're right on the edge of the Peak District here. For walking, you can just step out the door. For more structured routes, the Peak District National Park site has details. Chatsworth House is about a 20 minute drive. Hardwick Hall is maybe 30 minutes. Bakewell is also within half an hour. For local history, English Heritage at Hardwick Hall is useful.

You can bring up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. There's a games room with a pool table in a separate outbuilding.
