The Bird Nest is a one bedroom flat on the fourth floor of a building in Matlock. It sleeps two. It's got a 4 star rating.
The main thing is the view. You can see right out over the town and the valley from the windows. It's an open plan space, so the living area, kitchen and bedroom are all in one room, but it's laid out sensibly. There's a proper shower in the bathroom.
The stairs are the building's main staircase, so there's quite a few of them. Just something to be aware of.
You can walk into the centre of Matlock in about five minutes. There's a pub about 200 yards away. Matlock Bath is a short drive or a nice walk along the river. It's a bit old fashioned, with fish and chip shops and arcades. The Heights of Abraham there has a cable car up to the hilltop, with caves and walks.
You're right on the edge of the Peak District. Chatsworth House is about a twenty minute drive. Bakewell is maybe twenty five minutes. For walks, you can drive into the national park in under half an hour.
Facilities are straightforward. There's a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. You can store bikes.
It might be useful to look at the Peak District National Park site for walking routes. The National Trust has information on places like Ilam Park and Lyme Park as well.
