Fishermans Lodge is in Whatstandwell, on the edge of the Peak District. It's a detached stone barn conversion. You get your own space.
The place sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well kept.
It's all on the first floor. You go upstairs to get in. There are some stairs outside first, up to the door. The main room is open plan, kitchen and living area together. There's a wood burner. It's a good place to sit and look out.
The best thing is the setting. It's very private. You look out over a meadow that goes down to the River Derwent. You've got fishing rights there, just for you, at the bottom of the garden. There are sheep and cows in the fields around.
It's close to the main road, so you can hear some traffic sometimes. But you're surrounded by fields, so it's a trade-off.
There's a local pub about a mile away. The nearest shop is about the same.
You're well placed for getting out. Matlock Bath is a few minutes down the road. It's in the gorge, very old-fashioned and touristy. The Heights of Abraham cable car is there. Carsington Water is about a 15 minute drive. Good for walking, cycling, or water sports. Peak District National Park has all the walking routes. Bakewell is about 20 minutes. Chatsworth House is maybe 25 minutes.
Facilities: there's parking right outside, a dishwasher, TV, and the wood burner. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
