Vine Cottage is one in a row of terraced houses in Whatstandwell, built around 1900. It's on the Derwent valley side, so the back looks over fields and hills.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well kept. The main living room is downstairs with an open fire. The kitchen is compact. There's a dining booth built into the window so you can sit and look out at the view while you eat. You get the whole garden to yourselves. It's a bit of a slope down to the field at the bottom.
It's a good spot for walking. You can get straight onto paths from the door. The village has a pub, a short walk away. It serves food.
For towns, Matlock is about four miles. It has shops and places to eat. The Heights of Abraham there is a popular visit - you take a cable car up the gorge. Bakewell is about eight miles north, famous for its tarts. The high peak trail is close by for cycling.
There's a lot of history around here. The Derwent Valley Mills are a UNESCO site. You've got Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall within a half hour's drive. The National Tramway Museum at Crich is about ten minutes away by car.
The facilities are what you'd expect: washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
