Barn Owl Cottage
Barn Owl Cottage is on our farm just outside Cromford. It's an old barn we converted into a house.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms, with one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating.
The stairs are steep, just so you know.
There's a patch of garden that's yours to use, with a table and a barbecue. The farm chickens will probably wander through. It's a working farm, so you'll see the odd tractor or hear the sheep.
Inside, it's straightforward. There's a kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine, a living room, and the bedrooms upstairs. Everything is clean and works. We provide all the bedding and towels.
You can bring one dog.
Being here, you're right in the middle of the Derwent Valley. There are footpaths directly from the farm gate. The High Peak Trail is very close if you're cycling or walking.
Matlock Bath is about five minutes away by car. It's a strange little place with the theme park and the shops along the river. Bakewell is about twenty minutes.
Chatsworth House is probably a twenty-five minute drive. It's worth a visit. Carsington Water is about fifteen minutes away for sailing or a walk around the reservoir.
If you want to plan days out, these sites are useful: National Trust Peak District and Peak District National Park.
