This is Bailey's Barn in Bonsall. It's up high, about 900 feet, so you get good views. It's a barn conversion from the 1700s. The ceiling's high and beamed inside, which gives it a sense of space. There's a wood burner, and the heating is instant so it warms up quickly.
It's for two people. One bedroom with an en-suite shower room, all on the ground floor. The living area is open plan with the kitchen. We've got a 5 Star rating. It's comfortable and well kept.
You can bring two dogs. There's an outside tap for washing muddy paws or boots, and a heated cupboard inside for drying coats. There's a bike store if you need it.
Outside, there's a courtyard garden and a second garden with the views. The garden is enclosed. Parking is off-road, right by the barn.
Bonsall is a proper Peak District village. There are two pubs and a tearoom within about half a mile. They do the usual pub food and decent beer. The village has its own quirks, like a carnival and hen racing.
For walking, you step straight out onto footpaths and The Limestone Way. You can leave the car here. The wider Peak District is on your doorstep. Matlock Bath is about five minutes by car, Chatsworth House is about twenty minutes, and Bakewell is maybe fifteen.
The barn is detached on one side, our house is attached on the other. We're here if you need anything, but you'll have your own privacy.
In terms of what's here: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, BBQ, all bedding and towels are included. The entrance and the main living space are wheelchair accessible.
