Shire Cottage

Shire Cottage is on Leashaw Farm, near Whatstandwell in Derbyshire. It's one of a pair of cottages from the 1600s. It's a working farm, so you'll see the animals and hear the birds. It's quiet and a bit off the main road.

The cottage sleeps five in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. You can bring one well-behaved dog.

The garden and patio are yours to use. It looks out over the fields. You can fish in the owner's private pond or in their stretch of the River Derwent, which runs through the farm. That's free for guests.

There's a pub and a restaurant about a mile away. The nearest shop is three quarters of a mile. You've got parking right outside.

For walks, you can just step out the door onto the farm tracks or follow the Cromford Canal path. The Peak District is right there. For a day out, Matlock Bath is close, or you can drive to Peak District National Park proper. Chatsworth House is about a 30 minute drive. So is Carsington Water. Alton Towers is also within that radius if that's your sort of thing.

Inside, there's a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's also a stairgate at the top of the stairs. The stairs are typical for an old cottage, so they're a bit steep and turn a corner.

If you're coming with more people, you can book the cottage next door as well. Together they sleep fourteen.
