The Counting House
The Counting House is in Wirksworth. It's a one bedroom place for two people. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well done and comfortable.
It's a semi-detached cottage that used to be a lawyer's office. The bedroom has a kingsize sleigh bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The owners are artists, so the place has some individual touches.
You're right in the middle of the old part of town. The shop, a few places to eat, and the pub are about 50 yards away. There's a weekly market and other things going on during the year. The town has an independent cinema, which is good if the weather turns.
For walking, you can get straight onto footpaths from the door. Carsington Water is close by for sailing or a walk round the reservoir. The Derwent Valley Mills are worth a visit if you're interested in the industrial history. Chatsworth House is about a 20 minute drive. So are Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if needed. No pets, sorry.
