Woodpecker Loft is in Hognaston, a small village in Derbyshire. It's a barn conversion, semi-detached with one other property. You get a private, gated courtyard.
The place sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's the main thing about it, really. It's got a 5 Star rating, so everything is in good order. The ceilings are high with big oak beams, which look nice but do mean it's an open plan space, so it's not a quiet, tucked-away sort of place. It's more for a group.
Carsington Water is about a three minute walk away. It's good for a walk or a cycle. You can hire bikes or boats there. Carsington Water has all the details.
Ashbourne is a few miles away. It's a market town with the usual shops and pubs. For walking, Dovedale is close by, maybe a fifteen minute drive. The Peak District National Park site is useful for routes.
If you want a proper day out, Chatsworth is about half an hour's drive. So is Kedleston Hall. Bakewell is in that direction too. Alton Towers is also within a thirty minute drive, if that's your sort of thing.
For facilities: it has a wood burning stove, a BBQ, a dishwasher, wifi, and parking for a few cars. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine. No pets allowed.
You can book it with the three other barns next door if you need more space for a bigger group.
