Doves Nest
Doves Nest is just outside Ashbourne town centre, on the Buxton Road. It's a detached house, so no neighbours attached. You get the whole garden to yourselves for kids or a dog.
It sleeps ten people in five bedrooms. Three bathrooms, so you're not queuing. It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable, not just basic.
The kitchen and dining area is open plan, with big doors that open onto the patio. Good for when everyone's in together. The living room is at the front, it's separate, so some people can watch TV while others are in the kitchen. There's a utility room for boots and coats, which you'll need.
The garden is lawned and big enough to kick a ball around. Patio seating right outside the doors.
Ashbourne has supermarkets and a few shops. The nearest pub is about three quarters of a mile away. They do food.
For walking, Dovedale with the stepping stones is very close. The Tissington Trail is good for cycling and flat walks. Carsington Water is a few miles away for sailing or walking around the reservoir. Peak District National Park has all the maps and details.
If you've got kids, Alton Towers is about a fifteen minute drive. Works for a day out.
Facilities: parking for several cars, wifi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's underfloor heating, which is good in winter.
