The Miners Rest is in Middleton, Derbyshire. It's a single-storey, stone cottage, so all on one level. It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-appointed.
Inside, it's open plan. The kitchen's at one end, living space at the other. There's a TV and WiFi. The sofas are leather, decent for putting your feet up. The kitchen has what you need. Outside, there's a private decked area. It gets the sun in the afternoon. You can sit out there.
The village is a former mining place, up on a hillside. There are two pubs within walking distance. One does food, the other's more for a drink. The local shop is about a mile away in Wirksworth. Wirksworth has a few more shops, cafes, and a heritage centre. It's about a ten minute walk downhill.
You're right on the edge of the Peak District. The High Peak Trail, which is an old railway line, runs through the village. It's good for walking and cycling. We have bike storage if you bring yours.
Cromford, which is part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, is five minutes away by car. Matlock is about ten minutes, with more shops. Matlock Bath is nearby too, with the Heights of Abraham cable cars. Bakewell is twenty minutes. Carsington Water is close, for walks or water sports.
For bigger days out, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within half an hour's drive.
Facilities include a washing machine, parking on site, and bedding and towels are provided. No pets.
