The Cartlinhay

The Cartlinhay is a converted barn on a working farm just outside Bideford. It's one of four holiday places here. You'll have your own private courtyard with a table and a barbecue. The farm is down a long private drive, so it's quiet. You look out over fields towards the River Torridge.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. Everything is on the ground floor.

The farm is about 200 acres. You and other guests can use a shared green area for dogs or kids to run about. There are some woodland walks on the farm itself.

Bideford is two miles away. It's a proper market town with shops and a pannier market. The Tarka Trail is close by. It's a disused railway line you can walk or cycle along. It goes through Instow and up to Barnstaple.

The nearest beach is Westward Ho!, about four miles. It's good for surfing. Instow is closer, on the estuary, more for sand and paddling. For bigger surf beaches, Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe are a 30 minute drive away.

If you want a day out, you can get the boat to Lundy Island from Bideford. Exmoor National Park is about a 30 minute drive east.

Inside, it's open plan. There's a kitchen with a dishwasher and washing machine. TV, WiFi, all bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking right outside.
