The Old Barn is in the hamlet of Ford, about two miles east of Bideford. It's an 18th-century barn conversion, so the walls are thick and the ceilings are beamed. It's a solid, straightforward sort of place.
It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms and two separate living areas, plus a galleried snug upstairs. That means people can spread out a bit. The garden is large and fully enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs. You can let them out without worrying.
The stairs to the galleried snug are steep. It's an old building.
You're well placed for the coast here. Westward Ho! beach is about four miles away. It's a long, sandy beach, good for walking and popular with surfers. For something quieter, the coves at Bucks Mills and Peppercombe are closer. Clovelly is famous for its steep, cobbled street and donkeys, it's about a twenty minute drive. You can get boat trips to Lundy Island from Ilfracombe or Clovelly if the weather's right.
Bideford is the nearest proper town, just a couple of miles. It's got shops, a market, and places to eat. Appledore is a nice fishing village a bit further on. If you like gardens, RHS Rosemoor is about half an hour's drive inland.
For a rainy day with kids, The Big Sheep or The Milky Way adventure parks are within a thirty minute drive.
What's here: There's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. The garden has a patio and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate. There's parking on the drive for a couple of cars.
You can bring up to two dogs. The local pub and a shop are about a mile and a half away.
