The Boathouse
The Boathouse is in Appledore. It's attached on one side. There are three bedrooms and it sleeps six. Two bathrooms, one is a shower room downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. You can bring one dog.
The main thing is the view. You look straight out over the Torridge Estuary to Instow. The living room is all one space and the windows are big, so you get the full effect. There's a roof terrace you get to from inside, which is good for an evening drink looking over the village.
The layout is a bit different. You come in the front door and then go down some steps into the main living area. The bedrooms are on that same level. The garage and a games room are downstairs, and that's where the second shower room is. It's useful if you've been surfing or on the beach.
You're right on the South West Coast Path. The path goes for miles each way. Appledore quay is a few minutes' walk. There are shops, cafes, and a few pubs that do food. The social club is next door and sometimes has live music.
You can get the ferry from Appledore over to Instow. Instow has a long sandy beach that's dog friendly. Bideford is two miles away for a bigger supermarket.
The beach at Westward Ho! is about a ten minute drive. It's good for surfing and dogs are allowed all year on a big part of it. You drive across Northam Burrows to get there. Other beaches like Saunton, Woolacombe, and Croyde are within half an hour.
For days out, the National Trust has a few places nearby like Knapp House. The Tarka Trail is close by if you want to cycle. There's also the Big Sheep and the Milky Way for kids.
Facilities: there's a wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair.
