The Barn is on a working farm outside Hallspill, just over the river from Bideford. It's one of four cottages converted from the old farm buildings. The farm's at the end of a long private drive, so it's quiet.
It sleeps four. There are two bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, clean, and warm. There's a wood burning stove if you need it.
You get a small outdoor space. The other three cottages have private courtyards, but there's also a big shared green area everyone can use. You can walk dogs there and let kids run around.
The farm is about 200 acres. You're welcome to walk around the fields and woods. The main local path is the Tarka Trail. It runs along the old railway line right by the river. You can walk or cycle on it for miles. It's very flat. Bideford is about two miles away along it.
Bideford's a proper market town. It has shops, pubs, and a pannier market. The quay is nice for a wander. From there, you can get the boat over to Lundy Island in the summer.
The coast is close. Instow beach is about four miles away. It's on the estuary, sandy, and good for families. Westward Ho! is a bit further, maybe five miles. That's the proper seaside, with a big beach for surfing. Both are easy to get to.
Further afield, the bigger beaches like Saunton Sands and Woolacombe are about a 30 minute drive. They're very good. Exmoor National Park is also within half an hour if you want proper moorland walks.
Inside, it's got what you'd need: TV, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside. You can bring up to two dogs. We provide a cot and highchair if needed.
