Kingfisher Cottage
Kingfisher Cottage here is part of Town Mills, which is a converted old mill just outside Great Torrington. It's on the River Torridge. The whole place is historic, Grade II listed, and the setting is genuinely nice.
The cottage itself sleeps three. Two bedrooms, one a double, one a single. One bathroom upstairs with a shower over the bath. Downstairs there's a kitchen, and a living and dining area with an electric wood burner stove. It's not huge, we call it snug, but it's comfortable and looks out over the river and fields.
The stairs to the upper floor are steep. It's that cottage style.
On-site, there's a lot for families. There's a shared indoor swimming pool kept warm, about 31 degrees. You can book it for just your group. There's a games room with a free pool table, table football, darts. Outside by the river there's a fenced play area for kids with swings and a slide. There are peacocks wandering the gardens.
Great Torrington town centre is about a mile away for shops and pubs. The RHS Garden Rosemoor is literally next door, which is handy. The Tarka Trail runs nearby if you want to walk or cycle.
For the coast, Westward Ho! and Instow are about a 20-25 minute drive. They've got big sandy beaches. Clovelly is a bit further, maybe 40 minutes, but it's a very picturesque fishing village. Bideford and Appledore are about 15 minutes away down the river.
In terms of what's here: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, parking. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two pets.
