Tarka is the big cottage at Town Mills, near Great Torrington. It sleeps twelve, across six bedrooms, with four bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are doubles with their own showers. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The building was a grain mill and is Grade II listed. The waterwheel is still on the side. You go in on the ground floor to a big open living and dining area. The kitchen is there too. It's got proper stuff in it, like decent pans and an extra fridge for drinks. The windows at the back look over the river and the fields.
There are two floors of bedrooms above. The top floor bedrooms have low ceilings, just so you know.
On site, there's a shared indoor swimming pool. It's kept warm. You can book it for just your group if you want. There's a games room with pool and table football. Outside, there's a fenced play area by the river for kids, with swings and a climbing frame. There are also peacocks that wander around the gardens.
The River Torridge is right there. You're on the edge of Torrington Common, which is 365 acres of land with miles of walking paths. RHS Garden Rosemoor is basically next door. Great Torrington itself is about a mile away for shops.
For a day out, the coast is about a 30 minute drive. Westward Ho! has a long beach. Clovelly is a bit further, but it's a unique harbour village. You can get boat trips to Lundy Island from Bideford, which is down the river. If you've got kids, The Big Sheep or The Milky Way adventure parks are within twenty minutes.
Facilities: it's detached, with its own garden. There's parking. It has Wi-Fi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
