The Appleloft

The Appleloft is a small cottage on the Webbery Manor Estate in Stony Cross. It’s up in the Devon hills, inland between the Taw and Torridge estuaries. It’s quiet here. The place is surrounded by fields and woods.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It’s a 5 Star rating, which means it’s well looked after and comfortable. Everything is clean and works.

You’ve got a wood burner for cooler evenings. There’s a patio area with garden furniture. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a washing machine, TV, wi-fi, and parking right outside.

You can bring one dog. There’s also a cot and a highchair if you need them.

The estate itself is about 30 acres. You can walk around the parkland. There are sheep, sometimes deer, and plenty of birds. The old walled garden grows vegetables. If there's something in season, you’re welcome to take some. Help yourself.

For shops and a pub, you need to drive about five miles. The nearest proper town is Bideford. It’s a working harbour town with a market. Good for a day out. There are places to eat.

If you want to do more, there’s fishing and horse riding nearby, within five miles. A golf course is local. The North Devon coast, like Westward Ho!, is about a 20-25 minute drive. Exmoor is maybe 30 minutes.

For planning days out, the North Devon National Landscape site is useful, as is the National Trust for North Devon and Exmoor.
