Anchor Cottage is in Instow. It's a terraced house, so you've got neighbours on one side. It's about 100 yards from the beach, which is mostly sand and mud when the tide's out. Good for dogs.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well-equipped and comfortable. There's a wood burner in the front room. It works.
Out the back is a small, enclosed courtyard. There's a rear gate which is handy for getting bikes or wet dogs in and out without coming through the house.
The village is flat, so you can walk to everything. There's a pub 50 yards away, a couple of restaurants, and a good deli. In summer, I've got a parking permit for the cricket club, which is a five-minute walk from the cottage. That's easier than trying to park on the street.
Instow beach faces west, so you get good sunsets. You can walk along to Appledore or take the passenger ferry across the Torridge estuary to Westward Ho!
Bideford is a short drive. From there you can get the boat to Lundy Island. Westward Ho! beach is about three miles away for surfing. The Tarka Trail is right there if you want to cycle or walk.
Further afield, Exmoor is to the east and the North Cornish coast is to the west. Clovelly is about half an hour's drive.
The cottage has wifi, a TV, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a stairgate if you need them. I allow up to two pets.
