High Park House

High Park House is in the countryside just outside Bideford. It's a big Victorian house built in 1845, so it's solid but not modern. It's detached and you get the whole place and the grounds to yourselves.

It sleeps sixteen people. Seven bedrooms, six bathrooms. Five of the bedrooms have their own en-suite. It's got a 4 Star rating. The place is clean and well-equipped, but the point is the space. It's for big family holidays or friends getting together.

On the ground floor there are two living rooms, both have wood burners. There's a formal dining room and a big kitchen with a table. It's a good kitchen for cooking for a crowd. There's also a utility room, a boot room, and a separate toilet. There's a games room with a pool table.

Outside, there's a large private lawn at the front and plenty of parking. In the grounds there's a natural lake with a decked area. There's also an indoor swimming pool and a hot tub. You book those for exclusive use during your stay.

The stairs are fine, it's just a normal house staircase.

You're a few miles from the coast. The nearest beach is at Westward Ho!, about four miles away. It's got a big sandy beach and the usual seafront things. Bideford itself is a proper working town with a river front and port. You can get a boat from there to Lundy Island if you're interested.

For walking, the South West Coast Path is close, and so is the Tarka Trail for cycling. The Tarka Trail is a traffic-free path on an old railway line, good for all ages.

If you want days out, The Big Sheep farm park and The Ultimate Adventure Centre are both nearby. Exmoor National Park is about a thirty minute drive for proper moorland walks. You can also drive to places like Clovelly, Hartland Point, or into North Cornwall within the hour.

Facilities: it's all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, bedding and towels included. There's a cot and highchair. You can bring up to four dogs. There's a BBQ and garden furniture.
