The Old Mill is in Buck's Mills, right at the end of the lane. It's a detached house, been there since the 1600s, so it's the oldest one in the village. It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean and has everything you need, but it's not a modern show home. It's full of old beams and character.
It sleeps ten people in five bedrooms. There are two bathrooms and a separate shower. The stairs are narrow and steep, it's that kind of house. It's got a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, and there's a dishwasher and washing machine. WiFi is there. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to three dogs.
The beach is about a three minute walk away. You go down a steep cliff path from the garden gate. It’s sand and shingle, good for rock pooling. You can see Lundy Island from there on a clear day.
The South West Coast Path goes right past the house. If you turn left, you can walk along the cliffs to Clovelly. That takes about an hour and a half. If you turn right, you can walk towards Westward Ho!.
For supplies, the nearest shop is a mile away in the next village. The nearest pub serving food is about two and a half miles. Bideford is ten minutes by car, that's where you'll find supermarkets, places to eat, and boat trips over to Lundy Island.
Within half an hour you can drive to the Tarka Trail for cycling, or to RHS Garden Rosemoor. Hartland Quay and Docton Mill are good for a visit if you like dramatic coast and gardens. For a family day out, The Big Sheep or The Milky Way are about twenty five minutes drive.
