Chapman House

Chapman House is near Fairy Cross in North Devon. It's a detached house converted from an old stables. It sleeps a lot of people, up to ten, in four bedrooms. Three of those bedrooms have their own bathrooms.

The main living area is upstairs. That's where the kitchen and dining space is. The reason for that is the view. You can see right out over the North Devon coast to Lundy Island and the Atlantic from the big balcony. It's good for breakfast or watching the sunset. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings.

Downstairs, there's a secluded lawned garden with a small play area for children. You can bring up to two dogs.

The property is on a large private estate with twenty acres of shared woodland and fields to walk in. There's also a shared games room with a pool table and table tennis. A tennis court is there too.

It's a five-star place, so it's finished to a high standard and well-equipped. The facilities list is on the website. Bedding and towels are included.

There's a private footpath from the estate down to a quiet pebble and sand beach. It takes about half an hour to walk. The South West Coast Path is right there. A walk across the fields in the other direction, about an hour, leads to a small sandy beach that doesn't get too busy.

In terms of driving, the outlet shopping village with a big supermarket is only about two miles away. The surfing beaches at Westward Ho! and Bude are within easy reach. The National Trust has several properties in the area, like Hartland Abbey. The RHS garden at Rosemoor is also nearby. Clovelly village is worth a visit.
