Orchard Cottage
Orchard Cottage is on our farm in Monkleigh. You get the whole cottage and garden to yourselves. It's one of a pair next to each other, the other one is Gardener's Cottage. They can be booked together if you need space for six.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both upstairs. One's a kingsize, the other has twin beds that can be zipped together. There are two bathrooms, one on each floor, which is handy.
Downstairs is open plan. There's underfloor heating and a wood burner. The garden's enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs. We allow two. The view from the garden is over our fields. We've got about 200 acres and you're welcome to walk around them.
The farm's a working dairy farm, so you'll see and hear farm things. Cows, tractors, the usual. It's a mile to the nearest pub that does food. The closest shop for basics is about three and a half miles away in Great Torrington.
You're about four miles from the coast here. Westward Ho! is six miles away, it's a big sandy beach. The South West Coast Path is easily reached. For a quieter spot, Bucks Mills is closer. Bideford is three miles away. You can get the boat to Lundy Island from there if the weather's right.
If you like walking or cycling, the Tarka Trail is nearby. For gardens, RHS Rosemoor is about twenty minutes' drive. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coast around here, their site is useful: National Trust North Devon Coast.
Included in the price: all utilities, WiFi, bedding and towels. There's a washing machine, a TV, a cot and a highchair. Parking is right outside.
