Tarka's Holt Log Cabin
Tarka's Holt is a log cabin at Stowford Lodge near Berry Cross. It's detached, so you're not sharing a wall with anyone. The cabin sleeps five, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything is clean and it's well looked after.
You're on a farm with about six acres. There are fields with sheep and a couple of Dartmoor ponies. Chickens too. For kids, there's a play area with swings and a climbing frame. There's also a big flat field out the back with football and rugby posts. Good for running about.
The cabin itself has a washing machine and a dishwasher. There's a TV and Wi-Fi. Bedding and towels are included. You can park right outside.
Location wise, it's quiet here. You're about three miles from Great Torrington. That's where the main shops are, and a pub. The closest pub or restaurant is about two miles away.
The coast is about ten miles. Westward Ho! is the main one for surfing. Instow is quieter, with a sandy beach and sailing. If you want to walk or cycle, the Tarka Trail runs close by. The RHS Garden Rosemoor is less than two miles away. It's very good if you like gardens.
Further out, Exmoor and Dartmoor are both within an hour's drive. So are places like Croyde and Woolacombe for more beaches.
On site, there's an indoor heated swimming pool you can use. It's shared with the other holiday cottages here. There are four other cottages, but they're in a separate terrace.
No pets allowed, sorry. The stairs inside are a standard flight, not a ladder or anything, but they are a bit steeper than in a modern house.
