Tarka's Holt Log Cabin
This is Tarka's Holt. It's a log cabin in Berry Cross, Devon. Detached. It sleeps five, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. We don't use phrases like 'nestled'. It's just there, on its own, next to some fields.
The cabin is on the same site as four other cottages, but it's separate. You share the owner's six acres of land. There are animals: two Dartmoor ponies, some sheep, and hens. Kids can play in the play area. There's a big field for football or flying a kite.
Inside, it's open plan. There's a log effect electric fire. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a TV and WiFi. We include the bedding and towels. You can park right there, and there's an electric vehicle charger.
There's also an indoor heated swimming pool on site that you can use.
The stairs inside are a typical cabin style ladder, so they are fairly steep.
Location wise, it's quiet. The nearest pub is about two miles away. For shops, you'd go to Great Torrington, which is three miles. It's got the basics: supermarket, a few places to eat, a sports centre.
The coast is about ten miles. Westward Ho! and Instow are that way. Good for surfing or just a walk on the beach.
The Tarka Trail for walking and cycling is a quarter of a mile from the gate. The RHS Garden Rosemoor is less than two miles away. It's a good day out if you like gardens.
Further out, Exmoor and Dartmoor are both within a 30 minute drive. So is the surfing at Croyde Bay.
