Riverside

This is Riverside. It's one of seven cottages in the old mill building at Town Mills, just outside Great Torrington. The mill is from 1823 and is Grade II listed. It's the mill from 'Tarka the Otter'.

It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. Two are twins upstairs. Downstairs there's another twin and a double with its own bathroom. There's also a main family bathroom downstairs with a shower over the bath.

The main thing is the veranda. It's private and looks straight out over the River Torridge. You can sit out there with a coffee. You might see an otter, but I've only seen one a handful of times. Mostly it's just quiet.

Being part of the mill, the ceilings are normal height and the doors are fine. It's not one of those cottages with low beams. The stairs are a normal staircase.

On the site, there's an indoor swimming pool you can book for just your group. It's warm. There's a games room with a pool table and table football. For kids, there's a fenced play area by the river with swings and a climbing frame.

Great Torrington is about a mile away for shops and pubs. The RHS Garden Rosemoor is right next door, literally a short walk. The Tarka Trail for walking and cycling is on your doorstep. The coast at Westward Ho! is about a 20-minute drive.

Facilities include all bedding and towels, a washing machine, dishwasher, and parking. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if needed.
