Grooms Cottage

Grooms Cottage is one of the places on the Webbery Manor Estate up at Stony Cross. It's high up so you get good views over the Taw and Torridge estuaries.

It's a two-bedroom cottage and sleeps four. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means everything is in very good order. It's comfortable.

The cottage is in 30 acres of parkland and woods. There are sheep and deer about, and you'll see plenty of birds. The gardens are lovely, especially in spring when the rhododendrons are out. They grow vegetables in the walled garden and you're welcome to take some if anything's ready.

You're up a long driveway here, so it's very quiet. The closest shops and pubs are about five miles away in the villages. For a bigger town, Bideford is about a 20 minute drive. It's a proper working harbour with a market.

You can walk straight from the cottage onto the estate paths. For a longer walk, the Tarka Trail is nearby. If you want a beach, Westward Ho! is about half an hour's drive. The surfing is good there. For a historic day out, Clovelly is also within half an hour. It's a unique place, a privately owned village with a steep, cobbled street down to the sea.

As for facilities, it's all there. Woodburning stove, TV, WiFi, washing machine. There's parking right outside. You can bring one dog. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. All bedding and towels are included.
