West Brae

West Brae is a bungalow near Bishop's Tawton, about two miles from Barnstaple. The main thing is the view out the back, over the Taw valley. There's a big picture window in the living room so you can sit and look at it.

It sleeps four. Two double bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's modern inside. The kitchen and living area are open plan.

You need to be aware of the steps. There are 16 of them down from the gate to the front door. The garden is about an acre, on a slope, so it's great if you've got kids or a dog to run about. There's a raised patio with a BBQ.

Bishop's Tawton itself is a small village. There's a local pub. The big draw is the Tarka Trail, which is a walking and cycling path on an old railway line. It goes right past the front of the property. You can follow it north towards Braunton and the coast, or south towards Dartmoor.

Barnstaple is two miles away for shops, a leisure centre, and the pannier market. Instow is about seven miles. That's a nice waterside village with a sandy beach, a couple of pubs, and a good deli. The surfing beaches like Saunton, Croyde, and Woolacombe are a 20 to 30 minute drive.

For a day out, Exmoor National Park is within a half hour drive. So is the coast path around Lynton and Lynmouth. Closer to home, there's fishing and horse riding nearby.

Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
