Scottie's Retreat

It's called Scottie's Retreat. It's a bungalow on the edge of a private estate in Chivenor, near Braunton. Parking is about 70 yards away from the door, just so you know. The side and rear look out over fields, which is nice.

It sleeps three, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's tidy and clean. Everything is on the ground floor. There's a seat in the shower, if that's useful.

The garden is a patio area. It gets the sun in the afternoon. There's a washing machine and towels are provided. You can bring one dog.

You can walk to the local pub and a shop in a few minutes. Braunton village centre, with all its cafes and places to eat, is also walking distance. It's a big village, quite busy.

The beaches are the main thing here. Saunton Sands, Croyde, and Woolacombe are all a short drive away. The surf schools are at Croyde if that's of interest. The Braunton Burrows sand dunes are right there behind Saunton.

For a day out, you can drive to the Tarka Trail for cycling. Appledore is good for crabbing. Barnstaple is about ten minutes up the road for bigger shops. The North Devon Area of Natural Beauty site has walking ideas. Exmoor is within half an hour's drive.

That's about it. It's a straightforward place, good for getting to the coast.
