Appledore is a fishing village. The flat is about 400 yards from a pub and restaurant that serve food. There’s a shop about 600 yards away. The South West Coast Path is right there. You can walk along it to Northam Burrows and then on to Westward Ho! beach. Westward Ho! is a Blue Flag beach, good for surfing.
Bideford is three miles away. You can get town shopping there, or boat trips over to Lundy Island. If you want to drive, Clovelly is about half an hour away. So is RHS Garden Rosemoor. The Tarka Trail is good for cycling or walking. The local golf club is the Royal North Devon at Westward Ho!.
